SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 - Contd...

Whew, finally installed Visual Studio .NET 2005 Beta 1 after the mayhem with SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 and now everything is back on track. Of course applications developed in ASP.NET 2 works with SQL Server 2005.

Went through some of the features in SQL Server Beta and SQL Server Management Studio is definitely cool to work with.

SQL Server 2005 Beta 2.

Referring to my earlier post about the failure to install SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 on top of Visual Studio 2005 Beta 1, Deepak Gulati pointed me to the resource to get this rectified. The remedy is to uninstall Visual Studio 2005 Beta 1 along with the .NET Framework SDK Beta 2.0 and then install SQL Server 2005 Beta 2. This took quite a time to get this done and finally SQL Server was installed on a Virtual PC Console. This has a lot of cool features which included Reporting Services and Notification Services.

Now to complete the other task viz. installing back Visual Studio 2005 Beta 1 and see if it gets done. Keep watching this space for more updates.

Tech Ed 2004 in Chennai...

Tech Ed 2004 was held in Chennai last week and it was a great event not to be missed. I spend my time in the Microsoft Community Booth where we exhibited about the MVP Program, had a contest "Meet Your Match" which generated a lot of interest.

I attended only 2 sessions Visual Studio Team System by Kieth Rowe and Welcome Visual Basic 20o5 by M.S.V Janakiram. Both sessions highlighed the new features that are a part of the next version of Visual Studio 2005 scheduled to be releaased next year and already released in beta version now.

It was great to see the enthuasism from all participants attending the event and many were enquring whether they had won the watch in "Meet your Match" contest.

SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 with Visual Studio 2005 Beta 1

I received my copy of SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 during Tech ED 2004 held in Chennai last week. Since I already had Visual Studio .NET 2005 Beta 1 installed on my machine weeks before, I tried to install SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 but it refused to install saying that the .net framework version that was installed wasnt compatible with this SQL Server. So I am in a fix how to get this done and dont tell me that removing Visual Studio .NET 2005 Beta 1 will solve the problem.

My blogging shifts here...

Welcome to my blogs. I am shifting to this space from my earlier provider at weblogs.us because there seems to be some error when posting blogs and this hasn't been rectified for quite some time.
